Vessel handling is a critical piece of the docking and undocking operations of a floating or graving dry dock. There are many different methods that can be implemented to safely and securely handle a vessel, ranging from manual line handling using cleats and bitts, to fully mechanical hauling and centering trolleys systems.

One of the safest ways to handle a vessel, whether entering or exiting a dry dock, is through the use of a trolley system. At a minimum, a properly designed trolley system maintains constant connection to keep the vessel centered transversely as the vessel is maneuvered longitudinally.

HEGER has experience designing two distinct styles of trolleys which are defined by the operational characteristics and capabilities. Within each style there are multiple different design variations and possibilities.
