Docking of Deep Blue Drill Rig

In 2010, HEGER was hired by Atlantic Marine, Mobile (Now BAE Systems), to develop a plan to dry dock the 28,000 ton drill ship DEEP BLUE on their 46,000 ton floating dock. The vessel had large thrusters that hung below baseline by 2.7 meters. HEGER worked with Atlantic Marine to develop a method for docking the ship on 11′-9″ high blocks while still allowing the vessel to float into dock over the blocks.

The DEEP BLUE was successfully docked in 2010 and thrusters were removed and reinstalled according to plan.
